Additional Information

This is a new format for a Canoe Workshop in the North Coast. The weekend is open to all Venturers, Rovers and Leaders who would like to gain qualifications in Canoeing and those who already hold qualifications to improve thier skills and discover some of our great rivers in the North Coast.

The Workshop will be held on the Clarence River at Lilydale Campground about 45minutes north west of Grafton.

The basic program will be to meet at Lilydale on Saturday Morning. You are more than welcome to come out the Friday night and camp as well.

Will will than travel to our starting spot. We will spend the morning learning and practising canoeing skills. After lunch we will  paddle down to Lilydale campground approx 5kms.

On the Sunday, we will go on a little expedition downstream and learn some new skills, this paddle could be between 15 and 20kms.

Requirements for the weekend is to complete the Canoe Skill Elearning on Scout Central.

If you have not completed either Basic Outdoor Skills or Bushwalking, your full qualifications will not be recognised until you complete these courses. Please don't let this discourage you.

It’s never a guarantee that attending the workshop will achieve a qualification, but attending means you are one step closer and without practical effort accumulating in your log book you can’t proceed…so keep coming!

For those of you who hold qualifications, come along for a freindly paddle, learn new skills and see some of the great part of our waterways that you could use for your own Scouts.

This camp is self catered, so please bring your own food, tent and clothes for the weekend. It would be great if you could bring your own Canoe, PFD and paddles. If you require any please let us know.

You will need to carry some stuff with you in the Canoes on both days like food, sunscreen etc. Please make sure you have your own dry bags or drums.

Any questions please let us know.
